Burning Tips and Candle Safety
Scented Candles are a wonderful way to create ambience within your home. Please read the following tips to ensure your safety.
Burn Candles Safely
Before lighting, remove and discard all packaging.
Keep burning candles within sight at all times - never leave a burning candle unattended
Burn candles away from flammable materials, e.g. CURTAINS and out of reach of children and pets
Always use a suitable holder
Always burn candles on a heatproof surface
Keep the wick trimmed to approx. 0.5 cm
Do not place candles on or near other sources of heat.
Do not burn directly on furniture.
Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and any other foreign material.
Ensure the wick is centred
Burn your candle away from draughts, to discourage dripping and smoking
Extinguish candles with car, as wax may splatter. Snuffers are recommended
JAR CANDLES
Glass containers are fragile. handle with care. Avoid glass-to-glass contact and do not use jars that are
chipped, scratched or cracked.
Discontinue use when 1.5 cm of wax remains, as the glass may shatter. Do not refill jars with wax
Do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar, as it may become hot. Handle carefully
Minimize the wax left on the sides by burning the candle until the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar. It's normal for some wax to remain, and the amount varies per colour, fragrance and burning environment.
Extinguish carefully before replacing the lid
SCENTED TEALIGHTS
Do not burn in an enclosed space like an oil burner.
If the wick smokes or builds up carbon, extinguish the flame and remove carbon before relighting
SAMPLER (VOTIVE) CANDLES
Votives are designed to liquefy. Burn only in an appropriate holder, NEVER burn freestanding
WAX POTPOURRI TARTS
Unwrap and place a wax tart in a suitable oil burner - make sue it is deep enough to contain the tart when it has completely melted,
To change fragrances, allow the burner to cool, and leave in a freezer. The tart will pop out into your hand.
